Reef Credit Program - launching 2026
Mackay Blend - Algae-derived Soil & Plant Health Program, Queensland
With out collaboration partners across the supply chain - Queensland Sugarcane Growers are invited to register for the Mackay Blend Reef Credit Soil & Plant Health Program — an Australian‑made algae biostimulant system designed to reduce fertiliser costs, improve soil and plant health, and generate Reef Credits for eligible sugarcane farms.
Why Join the Program?
1. Save up to $1,500/ha in fertiliser costs
The Mackay Blend replaces a significant portion of the BAU 2026 urea‑based program, reducing input costs while maintaining productivity.
2. Improve soil and plant health (140 ha of trials in 2025)
Growers reported:
-
Improved nutrient efficiency
-
Stronger root systems
-
Higher resilience in dry periods
-
Yield improvements (2026 trials will provide further validated case studies)

3. Earn Reef Credits (Year 2 onwards)
Eligible farms may receive $200–$600/ha/year for reduced nitrogen runoff (DIN reduction). Credits are issued to the Grower, not the program.
4. Australian‑made, reliable supply
Minimal exposure to global fertiliser volatility.
5. Supported by local distributors
Delivery and support through Mackay and Bowen hubs.
